IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) is NOW OPEN! $200,000 for Faith-Based Safety Upgrades

“Shooter opens fire at Houston megachurch during service.”
“California synagogue targeted in attempted arson.”
“Tennessee pastor attacked mid-sermon; congregation in chaos.”

Across the country, houses of worship are being targeted. Churches, synagogues, and mosques — once considered safe havens — are now increasingly vulnerable to hate crimes, mass shootings, and extremist violence.

In response, FEMA has opened the FY2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) — a federal grant offering up to $200,000 per site, and $600,000 per organization (up to 3 sites), to help protect and prepare churches before tragedy strikes.

🚨 Why Your Church Needs NSGP Security Funding

The truth is: faith alone isn’t enough to keep your congregation safe. Churches urgently need:

✅ Shatterproof doors and windows

✅ Surveillance cameras and alarm systems

✅ Trained ushers and emergency plans

✅ Access controls, panic buttons, and radios

The NSGP will fully fund these items — no match required — but applying is competitive and complex.

✍️ Exousia Will Write Your NSGP Application — Start to Finish

Exousia is a faith-based grant writing team with a heart for ministry and hands-on experience helping churches win NSGP funding.

We speak your language. We know the faith sector. And we know what it takes to get your application noticed.

For just $1,980, Exousia will:

  • Write your full NSGP grant application

  • Provide a custom vulnerability assessment template

  • Craft a compelling mission and threat profile that scores

  • Ensure compliance with FEMA and state-specific standards

  • Prep you for post-award success and reporting

You don’t need a grant writer on staff — you need a partner who understands churches. That’s Exousia.

📅 2025 NSGP Timeline — What We Know So Far

FEMA has set the national deadline as August 11, 2025 — but this is not when churches must apply.

That’s the deadline for states to notify FEMA of their intent to apply. Each State Administrative Agency (SAA) sets its own nonprofit application process and deadlines — typically 1–3 weeks after the FEMA deadline.

🛑 You cannot apply directly to FEMA. You must go through your state’s SAA.

📍 Find your SAA here:

👉 State Administrative Agencies – State Administrative Agency

Exousia has already contacted SAA offices across the country. What we’ve learned:

  • Most states anticipate accepting nonprofit applications in late August or early September

  • Some may begin later in the fall — so don’t panic if nothing’s open yet

  • Prep now to get ahead of the rush

👉 While you can’t apply today, now is the time to prepare your documents, assessments, and narratives.

🔎 You MUST Have a UEI Number to Apply

To apply, your church must have an active Unique Entity ID (UEI) from SAM.gov

No UEI = No eligibility. Processing can take time — so start early.
